Silence Saharien

29x24cm oil on canvas by Abdelrahman El Fayed

"Silence Saharien" holds a face in stillness, as if turned inward while light passes across it. Hues of violet, ochre, and ember settle like the last warmth of sunset, recalling the moment when the Moroccan sky deepens and everything softens. Inspired by North African portrait traditions, the simplified, sculptural features and elongated profile evoke a quiet dignity and timeless presence rather than a specific likeness. Suspended between memory and landscape, the portrait becomes a meditation on identity, where colour carries emotion and the silence of dusk lingers across the face

About the Artist: Abdelrahman El Fayed is a self taught artist locally known in Tangier. Most of his art work is painted on canvas or wood. The three art works selected here represent his interpretation of the human state, whether still, in contact with others or in movement (as in Transe Gnawa).
